The Selkie Tides Difference

Why Your Sound Healer's Background Matters: A Musician's Perspective

Anyone can purchase a singing bowl. So, what separates a simple sound from a transformative sound healing experience? The answer often lies in the practitioner's depth of understanding.

Many dedicated practitioners come from a spiritual background. My path was different. For 30 years, I worked as a musician, composer, and audio engineer. This trained me to listen not just to the notes, but to the space between them—the harmonics, the decay, the way sound waves interact in a room.

When I select an instrument for Selkie Tides, I'm assessing its acoustic properties and resonant frequencies, much like an engineer. When I guide a session, I'm composing a soundscape with intention, dynamics, and narrative flow, much like a composer. This technical expertise, fused with a studied understanding of psychology, allows me to do more than just play instruments.

I architect an acoustic environment. I design a session where the sound is not random, but deliberately structured to facilitate your transition into a calm and reflective state. This is the core of the Selkie Tides difference: where a lifetime of artistic and technical sound mastery meets the goal of your self-healing.
